The Most Common Labeling Supply - DuraLabel Vinyl

I've been talking about the most unusual labeling supplies.  What about the most common labeling supply?  What type of supply is that?  It is continuous vinyl tape.

Vinyl tape is the mostly frequently used labeling supply. Its durability, resistance to various environmental conditions and simplicity in application make vinyl an ideal labeling material.  But here's a key question, are all vinyls the same?

The answer is no.  There are many factors the effect the quality of labels made with continuous vinyl.  DuraLabel publishes a technical paper called The Anatomy Of A Label that provides the details about the technology of vinyl labels.  It points out a number of vinyl quality factors.

For example, thicker is not always better.  In most conditions a thinner vinyl will provide a longer life.  Thicker vinyl provides better abrasion resistance. Thinner vinyl provides better moisture resistance.  Most labels that fall off have experience adhesive failure resulting from moisture and humidity.  If the moisture can get at the adhesive it will dry the adhesive causing it to eventually fail. Thicker vinyls provide more edge area on which moisture can accumulate, leading to failure.

Label quality is significantly effected by the quality of the vinyl surface. Although not visible to the eye, vinyl can have a surface that varies having hills and valleys. In addition, pits in the top coat can result in poor print quality.  The more imperfections in the vinyl surface, the shorter the life of the label made with that vinyl.  This is something you can't see with your eye, and label failure may take a year or two, so you may have forgotten how the labels were made.  (Labels made with premium vinyl should last a minimum of five years.)

So how can you be assured of getting quality vinyl?

The only answer is to buy DuraLabel vinyl. DuraLabel vinyl undergoes severe testing before it is accepted as approved.  The DuraLabel QA department tests DuraLabel vinyl.  All day, every day, they are printing labels and checking the quality.  DuraLabel is the only supplier that goes far above and beyond what is normal, just to assure that you can count on getting quality that lasts.
